Yesterday and today

Me being closer to midlife is so strange to watch other much younger than myself. Life is very different for them growing up than myself.

Being gay and out was not so cool in my youth days, I was, so I know. Today it is actually almost hip and seems okay in *some* school (urban areas). The things kids grow up with now some is good some are not...change is so evident everywhere.

The web has created another whole universe that did not exist in my youth. Even where I sit today the web has affected my life and I totally wonder if I were younger how it would have affected everything about who I am today.

It is strange looking back sometimes...I look at music as and example. MTV did not come along 'til I was almost out of high school, so music to me was all created by my memories of the moment of the time or place. Sadly I think videos have taken something from us in terms of music. Most people who watch videos now see music as a concept of a video...not of the time and space where that music was important to them.

I wonder what it would be like to grow up today with all that is out there? How much different would we find the world. It seems to have made the world that much smaller, but does it put us in touch with what we as people can do to other cultures and societies?

I wonder if my lonely years would have been less lonely? Wonder if it would have impacted me to who I am today...I sure it would have, I just wonder how sometimes...odd, I will get to watch my daughter go through it all.

Wonder why if we can connect with others so much easier why there is still not peace on this planet...that be sad.

One can hope people can see the light soon...sadly it may take 4 more years, or at least in our country.
