Do we really ever know anyone?

I use to think we did, as of lately I am unsure of that.

With each of us so unique and ever changing, knowing someone takes so much effort on both parts to keep it all up to date. Is that possible? One will only hope so.

The ones I thought I knew, I may not and others that I want to know seem so far away. The work involved takes energy and sometimes that is lacking on one side or even all around.

As much as we may try, we each might lack certain abilities to keep knowledge and information flowing. Not from lack of trying. Maybe we do not understand one another well enough.

Or the fear that we understand all too well. So much as stake, do we allow ourselves that vulnerability with another. It shows our weak spots then who knows what can happen.

Self protection is a module we all seem to inherit. Sometimes when we have let it down and gotten hurt the shell seems to have learned and strengthened. It may be very hard for others to see through it.

We are an odd crowd us humans. But in the end we need to learn to not give up if it is something we want. Get past all the protection and roadblocks. If it is important to you, make the effort. In the end relationships with others are far to important for our self and well being for us not to try.

Relationships, the joy they bring on so many levels and even some of the hurt proves that they are necessary. Life is conflict I was told and I truly believe that. But life is also amazing and wonderful and can be whatever we choose it to be. But it takes each of us to makes steps towards one another to allow that.

No person is an island, sometimes we can try, but in the end one must try there best to find and fix the roads around them. It be our path. And others will help us through it all, if we allow them.
