Thoughts of the day...
Gray and drizzle surrounds the morning. The dark clouds lie low with dampness reminding folks that fall is upon us once again. About time.
Friday the last day of an odd workweek. Seems there is an abundance of items stacking up on the desk. Even with that I will be escaping for a few hours of children delight. Preparing one for that first leap into the realm of school. Something I can only hope goes better than my experience.
Odd how helping a child through that anxiety brings forth all those memories of years gone past. Not that school was anything other than a chore I was required to finish. One in which I skated on the very edge of the boundaries just to get by. So many folks hated it with a passion (one of my sisters included) and then some thought it was the best years of their life (other sister). I being somewhere on the edge of both camps. Actually it was never close to the best times in my life...so I guess closer to the outside edge. One I could ignore and just get by.
School does make the effort to teach us how to deal with others and ourselves, so why is it that NONE of those people exist in my life any longer. Did I miss the lesson, probably? I was either in the library reading and doing illegal things or out in the woods doing more fun (non illegal) things.
I can only hope my skills with people have only improved since those days. I actually do have a sense of respect, which I seemed to lack back than. I unfortunately have lost some of that sense of optimism I had an abundance of. I knew there had to be something better. Luckily I was right. Of course many lessons between now and then, but in the end would I go back?...hell no.
So today I begin helping create a pathway for a totally different and unique being to have the experience of a lifetime. One in which we all have taken and all came through with completely different views, decisions, choices and experiences.
Good luck to all of us. And Peace.

Good Grief...do I relate to your comments about school! I, too, felt as if I was skating on the edge. In High school, sports and running were my refuge and helped me get through. However, college was an enjoyable experience.
Traditional school isn't for everyone and it winds up being something to endure for many which in and of itself can be a good life lesson.
Good luck to Little E as she begins her journey!
